I have to say, this Homemade Strawberry Galette pie is my most favorite dessert. Especially in the fall, this dessert is just so gratifying. Not only is it super easy because I use my breadmaker for the dough, but also, the strawberry filling is simply succulent. You don’t have to worry about the double-crust pie factor, the crimping, etc… it is made with the intent to be rustic, simple, and DELICIOUS!

Flour: What I love most about this recipe is that any flour will do. Almond Flour, coconut flour, gluten-free flour, or all-purpose flour. The choice is yours! For my pie, I used my trusty King Arthur Certified Gluten-Free flour. If you can tolerate gluten, all-purpose flour will be just fine.
Butter: Although my go-to is always ghee when it comes to butter, for this recipe Bordier Butter or Kerrygold. 1000%. There are two ingredients in these brands of butter that really add intensity to the flavor-cream and salt. this perfect balance is EVERYTHING!
Ground Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and Cardamom: This is such a wonderful and magical combination and it really balances the sweet and savory factor in this recipe. I use my mortar to release all of the flavors within the three spices. Uniquely, it’s truly amazing!
Crème Fraîche: I typically buy it fresh from Wholefoods. An alternative to crème fraîche is sour cream… but…I prefer the real deal. This is one-half of the secret ingredient that makes this recipe my fave!
Vanilla Pudding Mix: The other half of my secret ingredient. I usually use half of a packet or make it quickly from scratch because it is super easy and adds so much texture vs. vanilla extract.
Himalayan Salt: Himalayan salt is always my go-to when it comes to salt. Satisfyingly, we don’t need a lot for this recipe and a little goes a long way.
Turbinado Cane Sugar: I LOVE this sugar most of all. It literally tastes just like the sugar cane sticks my parents used to get me and my siblings as a kid. Naturally sweet and yummy!

The very thing I can appreciate about this recipe is that you can make many variations of it. I’ve made this recipe with raspberries, peaches, apricots, and even blueberry preserves. The process stays the same but the flavor is right on par with how you’re feeling and pairs perfectly with the sweet flaky crust.

How to Make Your Homemade Strawberry Galette
Place King Arthur Gluten-Free Flour, Turbinado Sugar, Himalayan Salt, butter, and ice water ingredients in your bread maker. Choose the dough cycle. When the process is complete, the dough should resemble bread crumbles. Roll dough into a ball put it in a bowl with plastic wrap(wet your hands, so the dough sticks easily). Refrigerate for an hour.
While the dough is chilling, Place your cored strawberries, creme, vanilla, brown sugar, cornstarch, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom in a bowl and gently mix until the powder from cornstarch is mixed.
After an hour has elapsed, roll dough on a lightly floured surface. Since this recipe is super rustic, please don't worry about making a perfectly shaped-roundish is fine.
Making Your Strawberry Filling
Preheat the oven to 350°F and line your baking tray with baking parchment paper. Spoon the strawberry mixture into the middle of the rolled-out dough, but leave two inches from the edge untouched. Fold the edges of the dough over the fruit.
Whisk one egg with a teaspoon of water for your egg wash. Brush the sides of the galette with the egg wash. Then, sprinkle your Turbinado Sugar all over the galette, especially along the crust edges. Refrigerate the pie for 10 minutes and then bake for 30 minutes. When the galette is cooked, use the juices from the strawberry filling to brush all over the pastry, it will make your pie shine!
