What is the ultimate comfort food in every culture? The beloved… PIZZA!! Do you know of anyone that doesn’t love pizza? I really don’t! In my family, we have ‘Pizza and Movie’ night every week and my children absolutely LOVE playing with the dough while I’m making it. Undoubtedly, Friday’s or sometimes Saturday’s make for sweet memories every time we make homemade Manhattan pizza.

For most mom’s when you you think of homemade pizza, I think the most complicated part is the dough preparation. Most people just don’t have time for all of the kneading required to make the perfect quality dough and every single time they want pizza. What if I told you I can help make that part super easy and cut out half of the work! I start this Manhattan pizza recipe in my bread maker and I make an authentic marinara sauce, which is just a copy cat from my Italian sauce recipe. That’s where the hidden flavor come from from in every pizza.

This Manhattan pizza and is easy-peezy and it comes out CHEESY! The best part about it is that once you master the dough program in the bread maker, you can practically make ANY kind of homemade pizza your family likes just by changing the toppings, of course. Unquestionably, This recipe should be an absolute staple in everyone’s home and can make for such a fun family time your loved one’s look forward to every week.

Prepare the Marinara Sauce

  1. Pre-heat the cast iron pan to medium. Line the pot with olive oil. Put in the minced garlic and onions. Sauté for 2 min. Mix in the tomato paste, tomato puree,  Himalayan salt, Italian seasonings and sugar. Once sauce comes to a boil, turn the heat down to medium-low and let it cook for 45 minutes so the flavors can marinate well. Once finished set aside. Prepare the dough while the sauce is brewing. 

Ingredients to Make Pizza Dough

  1. Place water, honey, salt, olive oil, all purpose flour and yeast in the bread maker and choose the dough program. Once the cycle has completed, sprinkle a little dough on a cutting board remove dough from bread maker and place on the cutting board to roll out. Roll out the dough to be evenly flat.  

  2. Pre-heat your oven to 400º. Shred the mozzarella cheese and set aside. Pour a cup of marinara sauce on the dough and evenly spread it covering the whole pizza pie. Sprinkle the mozzarella all over, evenly, and sprinkle the fresh oregano evenly over the pizza.  Bake for 15 minutes or until the cheese bubbles. Serve warm and enjoy!

Thank you so much for this amazing recipe!  Oh Manhattan Pizza is famous for how delicious it is, and I have to admit it has some of my favorite pizza.  It’s nice to see that there is a recipe that can almost mimic the real thing.  I also like that this recipe shows how to home make everything, so even the dough will not be pre bought!  That makes the pizza even better, I think!

  2. HI, thank you for sharing this yummy pizza and marinara sauce recipe! I make pizza quite often at home and my whole family loves pizza. I will have to try your pizza recipe and marinara sauce recipe, it sounds delicious. I make my own dough but it’s made by hand and it is a fairly soft dough, it doesn’t require kneading. If I try your dough recipe, i would have to knead it by hand as I do not have a bread machine at the moment 🙂
